Film historian Jacqueline Stewart and exhibiting artist Stan Douglas discuss his work Birth of a Nation—in particular, how the film it is based on, D.W. Griffiths 1915 film The Birth of a Nation, served as a quasi-monument. The conversation will also explore Hollywood’s complicity in advancing the Lost Cause ideology.
